Lubbock's popular three-screen Stars and Stripes Drive-In will re-open on Friday, May 1 -- with single features offered on each screen:
Screen 1:
"The Invisible Man" (The new 2020 version, more thriller than horror film).
Screen 2:
"Trolls World Tour" (An animated musical, follow-up to 2016's "Trolls;" premiered as VOD/video on demand).
Screen 3:
"I Still Believe" (A Christian musical romance inspired by recording artist Jeremy Camp and his wife, who had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer before they married).
Drive-in opens at 7:30 p.m. All features begin at 8:45 p.m.
The venue's "welcome back" ticket price is $6 for each movie for each person age 4 or older.
The Stars & Stripes Drive-In makes use of radio sound.
The following are Official Stars & Stripes "Covid-19 guidelines and information," as announced by drive-in owner Ryan Smith.
*** To be assured a no-contact ticket transaction, and due to our reduced capacity in each screen's parking lot, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance online at driveinusa.com.
Tickets already are on sale in advance for this weekend -- and tickets for next week will be on sale shortly.
The drive-in will be open nightly through the summer.
*** We appreciate your patience and understanding about our temporary changes made to keep you, fellow guests and our team of employees safe.
For example, our '50s Cafe (concessions) is TEMPORARILY closed. It will not be open this weekend -- but we plan to offer concessions in the coming days.
*** Soon we will add Rockin' Eats back to our menu, and we also plan to eventually provide a new online ordering option.
*** Outside food is permitted at this time --- but PLEASE help by throwing away your trash in one of our trash barrels before leaving the theater. This allows us to keep our cleaning team members safer by reducing the number of items they must touch.
*** Due to limited capacity, our restrooms now are for EMERGENCY USE ONLY.
Thus, we ask that you please use a restroom before traveling to the drive-in.
*** When the '50s Cafe (concessions) eventually opens, families or groups entering will be limited to two (2) people only.
*** Those purchasing from the '50s Cafe (concessions) should be wearing a face mask before entering the building.
*** Children must remain in, or at, their vehicle at ALL TIMES.
Our playground and green spaces presently are CLOSED.
*** IMPORTANT:
Visitors must park vehicles in every other parking space, thus leaving an empty parking space on both sides of each vehicle.
Visitors can watch films from outside their vehicles if they want -- but all chairs and tables must be kept within their individual space.
This way, PROPER SOCIAL DISTANCING can be maintained throughout each screen's parking lot.
*** If you are sick, running a fever, or have been exposed to COVID-19, please STAY HOME.
*** For the safety of everyone present, each of these rules must be followed. If not, that person will be asked by management to leave the drive-in without a refund.
