Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... Zombieland: Double Tap!

October 10th, 2019

It’s been 10 years to the date since the release of Columbia Pictures’ Zombieland, and Stars & Stripes Lubbock is celebrating with the highly-anticipated sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap!

When it comes to surviving a zombie apocalypse, there are a set of rules one must follow. The rules are about to change, however, as Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock face off against a new breed of zombie as well as a few more wacky survivors named after their points of origin. Newcomers include Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Luke Wilson and even Dan Akeroyd as himself… following suit of his fellow Ghostbuster Bill Murray’s famous cameo from the original.

It’s an action-packed dose of gratuitous gore and quick-witted comedy that only the first family of the apocalypse can deliver! Double CLICK on the link below and get your tickets to see Zombieland: Double Tap at Stars & Stripes Lubbock!

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... The Addams Family!

October 9th, 2019

Things are altogether ooky at Stars & Stripes Lubbock as Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, Lurch, Grandmama and Thing creep back onto the big screen… and this time in animated form… in The Addams Family!

Originally a comic strip that debuted in 1938, as well as a popular television series in the 1960’s, this film marks the third time the cooky Addams have graced theaters. In this incarnation, the family moves to New Jersey where they defy the norms of the 21stcentury just by being their grotesque-but-lovable selves.

With Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Mortica, Nick Kroll as Fester and Bette Midler as Grandmama, one could easily see the cast take on their roles in another live-action adaptation, but are instead brought to life in a gloriously gruesome animation style reminiscent of the original comic strip.

So bring your little monsters (kids, pets, cousins, things, etc.) to Stars & Stripes Lubbock and pay a call on The Addams Family! Getting your tickets is a snap! Just click the link below!

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... Joker!

September 27th, 2019

Terrifying clowns are all the rage these days and the Clown Prince himself is finally getting his own origin story as Stars & Stripes Lubbock brings you Joker!

Joaquin Phoenix stars as Arthur Fleck, a down on his luck clown that just wants to make everyone laugh. After a series of hardships and failures, Fleck turns to a life of crime and chaos, donning the persona of Joker, the maniacal villain who’s anything but funny.

Audiences are certainly no stranger to Batman’s arch nemesis. Phoenix makes the fifth actor to portray the Joker in a live-action adaptation. The film is also the first since 2013’s Man of Steelto stray from the DC Universe continuity with its own standalone character study. So don’t expect any Will Smith quips or bright-eyed foster children with super powers. Joker is rated R for a reason, and promises to be a dark and gritty psychological thriller that’s more social commentary than it is exploding whoopee cushion.

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... Hobbs & Shaw!

July 26th, 2019

What started as a movie about street racers who steal DVD players, The Fast & The Furious has spent the last 18 years evolving into one of the most adrenaline-fueled franchises in movie history and their latest installment, Hobbs & Shaw, is at Stars & Stripes Lubbock!

Technically a spinoff of the franchise, Hobbs & Shaw tells the story of federal agent Luke Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson) and mercenary Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham) who must reluctantly team up to bring down a genetically enhanced terrorist hell bent on destroying the rest of humanity. That’s a long way from street racing!

The film marks the fifth appearance of Johnson’s Hobbs character, having first appeared in 2011’s Fast Five, and the third for Statham’s Shaw. Fourth if you count his end-credits scene from Fast & Furious 6. Costarring are Vanessa Kirby as Shaw’s sister, MI6 agent Hattie, as well as Idris Elba as the film’s souped-up supervillain, Brixton Lore.

Pull up & park for a night of fast & furious fun as The Fast & The Furious presents Hobbs & Shaw at Stars & Stripes Lubbock! Wow! That’s a lot of ampersands!

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... The Lion King!

July 12th, 2019

Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, and the rest of the gang from Pride Rock stampede into Stars & Stripes Lubbock as Disney Pictures presents The Lion King!

In the last few years, the trend of Disney live-action adaptations has been nothing to scoff at and now the Circle of Life is complete for The Lion King as the 1994 animated classic roars to stunning new life. The Lion King tells the Hamlet-esque story of a young lion prince named Simba who must reclaim the throne from his tyrannical uncle Scar and take his rightful place as king of “everything the light touches.” That’s quite the constituency!

The film is directed by Jon Favreau and utilizes an updated version of the visual effects used in his adaptation of The Jungle Book, which seamlessly combine computer animation with live-action cinematography. And, of course, you wouldn’t be doing the original Lion King justice if you didn’t include any of the film’s memorable songs. Elton John and Tim Rice return with a new take on their beloved classics, as well as a brand-new song performed by Beyoncé!

It’s sure to be a favorite for the whole pack so make your a-weemah-way to Stars & Stripes Lubbock and see Disney’s The Lion King! Click the link below for your tickets!

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... Spider-Man: Far From Home!

June 28th, 2019

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are teaming up once again with the follow up to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming! Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jake Gyllenhaal… it’s Spider-Man: Far From Home!

Holland returns as Peter Parker, aka. Spider-Man, and after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it’s not a spoiler to say that everyone’s favorite wall crawler needs a break! As young Parker’s uncle from another franchise once said, however, “With great power comes great responsibility” and with that philosophy in mind, Peter must put his sight-seeing trek across Europe on hold to battle destructive creatures from another dimension! Spidey can’t do it alone though. He’s going to have to team up with Mysterio, a super hero who, like the evil creatures, is also from another dimension!

Spider-Man: Far From Home marks the first time that the multiverse, recently made famous by last year’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although, as fans of the comics will know, Mysterio isn’t usually the most trustworthy of characters. So is this really the introduction of the multiverse? Are Mysterio’s intentions actually somewhat sinister, and if so… how is he able to deceive super-spy extraordinaire, Nick Fury? Whatever the answers are, it’s definitely going to be a lot for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to handle.

While Spider-Man may be far from home, an enjoyable double-feature at Stars & Stripes Lubbock is only a short drive away. Click the link below and get your tickets to see Spider-Man: Far From Home!
