Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, and the rest of the gang from Pride Rock stampede into Stars & Stripes Lubbock as Disney Pictures presents The Lion King!

In the last few years, the trend of Disney live-action adaptations has been nothing to scoff at and now the Circle of Life is complete for The Lion King as the 1994 animated classic roars to stunning new life. The Lion King tells the Hamlet-esque story of a young lion prince named Simba who must reclaim the throne from his tyrannical uncle Scar and take his rightful place as king of “everything the light touches.” That’s quite the constituency!

The film is directed by Jon Favreau and utilizes an updated version of the visual effects used in his adaptation of The Jungle Book, which seamlessly combine computer animation with live-action cinematography. And, of course, you wouldn’t be doing the original Lion King justice if you didn’t include any of the film’s memorable songs. Elton John and Tim Rice return with a new take on their beloved classics, as well as a brand-new song performed by Beyoncé!

It’s sure to be a favorite for the whole pack so make your a-weemah-way to Stars & Stripes Lubbock and see Disney’s The Lion King! Click the link below for your tickets!

Stars & Stripes Lubbock is gettin’ genie wit it as Walt Disney Studios conjures up the live-action remake of a beloved animated classic! Directed by Guy Ritchie, it’s Aladdin!

The film follows Mena Massoud as the titular diamond in the rough who attempts to win the heart of  the beautiful Princess Jasmine, played by Naomi Scott. Of course, you can’t have an Aladdin remake without a big blue genie, and who better to take on the iconic role than film icon himself, Will Smith!

When faced with the task of filling the shoes of Robin Williams, who voiced the Genie in the animated original, Smith admits that he was, of course, intimidated. “At the end of the day,” Smith stated, “It was the music where I saw that I could honor the nostalgia, and I could pay homage to Robin, but then also be able to add my new flavor.” Speaking of the music, Aladdin features brand new renditions of the original’s classic songs, as well as a few new pieces composed by Disney Legend Alan Menken.

So hop on your magic carpet, elephant, or… probably just your car and enjoy a fun-filled night under the stars watching Disney’s Aladdin at Stars & Stripes Lubbock! Click the link below for your tickets!

Stars and Stripes Lubbock presents... Dumbo!

Spring is in full bloom at Stars and Stripes Lubbock! It’s a season of renewal, and that’s definitely the case at Walt Disney Studios as they roll out their latest live-action remake of a beloved animated classic, Dumbo!

Where the original 1941 Dumbo was primarily a series of animated vignettes focusing on the titular big-eared elephant and his life at the circus, this newest version, directed by Tim Burton, adds more of a human element to the story. Set in a time where three ring circuses are fading into obscurity, Dumbo tells the tale of a small family who are tasked by the circus ringmaster with caring for a newborn elephant with oversized ears. But after the discovery that the elephant is actually capable of flying, the circus, and its diverse crew of workers, receive a sudden resurgence in popularity. As was the case with its animated predecessor, Dumbo instills the belief that no matter who we are, or where we come from, we’re all capable of greatness.

Besides Dumbo himself, the film also features a lineup of circus-sized talent. Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Danny Devito, and Michael Keaton all star. For Devito and Keaton, as well director Tim Burton, Dumbo marks a reunion of sorts as the first time the two actors have starred opposite together since Burton’s Batman Returns. The two veteran actors undergo a role-reversal of sorts this time around, however, as Devito trades the villainous persona of The Penguin for the lovable aging ringmaster Max Medici opposite Keaton’s sinister business tycoon V.A. Vandevere.

It promises to be a night of high-flying fun at Stars and Stripes Lubbock! Click the link below to get your tickets for Dumbo!
